Plame--A Sinster Infuence on Open Government?
Fox News is preparing for indictments

Well, I have now seen the most unbelievable talking point in the PR war against any possible indictments in the Plame case. John Gibson on the Fox News web site seems to argue that the outing of Plame was a positive service in order to avoid too much secrecy in government. Too much secrecy about the process of decision making? We’ve all seen how transparent this administration has been about such decisions as determining the nation’s energy policies. Here is Gibson on Plame:

Here we have someone influencing a president's plans and policies from behind a veil of secrecy — the equivalent of a CIA hand in an otherwise public policy.

Because we're going after the people who outed her, do I conclude that the American people now want a government run by spooks whose secret identities are protected by law while they pull strings and make things happen in an otherwise open government?

Do we want a government run by corporate executives whose secret identities are protected by executive privilege while they pull strings and make things happen in an otherwise secretive government? How about a government run by political operatives in secrecy?
