Eco Reality TV

I have a dream--a world where television had no borders, where I could easily watch (and pay for, mind you) coverage of my beloved Chelsea soccer team, watch the England v Australia Ashes cricket tournament, keep tuned into global news sources, and watch lots of BBC cooking shows. And here's yet another reason why that dream continues to percolate within me--a new reality TV show in Britain on the Beeb where a family is shown how to reduce waste! Here are the details from the Alt-Energy blog:

The first episode of a new environmental/energy efficiency home makeover show called "No Waste Like Home" was broadcast last night here in the United Kingdom.

Presenter "Queen of Green" Penney Poyzer managed to reduce one family's household waste by 94% in just two weeks. She also helped them reduce food wastage by 60% and heating gas usage by 63% (which wasn't hard as they heated their house 24 hours a day at 28 degrees centigrade!!!). She managed to save the family of five £419 ($753) in two weeks the equivalent over a year of over £10,000 (nearly $20,000).

Previously Penney was a project coordinator with EcoTeams. Over 250 households in Nottinghamshire, England saved around £250 a year ($449) via lifestyle changes.
