Everyone Knows It's WindyIn the face of the Energy Bill debacle going on with the bill that will be sent to President Bush (more on that later), here's
some good news from Washington state:
| Gov. Christine Gregoire has approved plans for a wind farm in rural Kittitas County to be developed and operated by Zilkha Renewable Energy and Puget Sound Energy.
Bellevue-based Puget Sound Energy (NYSE: PSD) has agreed to purchase and operate the Wild Horse Wind Farm, which will include as many as 158 wind turbine electricity generators, capable of producing 312 megawatts, according to a release. That would be enough to power about 100,000 homes, the release said. [...] Officials said the construction project will employ about 250 workers, and the wind farm will employ about 14 full-time workers. The Wind Farm will also generate about $2 million in property taxes annually.
Construction could begin as soon as this fall, and will take about a year to complete, according to the release. |
