My Post-Election Playlist
I needed to put a smile on my face somehow after the Kerry concession speech, so I created a CD playlist that reflected some of my feelings, running from grief to anger to confusion to hopefulness. I tried to upload to Apple's iTunes store, but (as I suspected) only a few songs made it into an iMix due to not being within the Apple library or the fact that they're imported (i.e., Butch Cassidy Soundsystem). But here are the tunes:
- Sentimental Walk - Vladimir Cosma (from the Diva soundtrack)
- Broken Hearts for You and Me - Trio
- Crosseyed and Painless - Talking Heads
- Express Yourself - NWA
- Brothers and Sisters - Butch Cassidy Soundsystem
- People Power in the Disco Hour - Clinton
- Me and Jesus Don't Talk No More - Beulah
- Palm of Your Hand - Cake
- The Everlasting - Manic Street Preachers
- Smile - Elvis Costello
- You Get What You Give - New Radicals
- Tom Petty Loves Veruca Salt - Terrorvision (has nothing to do with either Tom Petty or Veruca Salt, but is an understated rallying the troops kinda tune)
- Don't Give Up - Chicane
- Can You Hear Us - Neil Finn (written for the New Zealand national rugby team, but it's hopefulness is universal)
- All These Things - Killers
- The Revolution Starts Now - Steve Earle
- Political Science - Randy Newman
