Two Variations on a Favorite Theme

I've spent a goodly amount of time in airports over the last month, and despite the fact that I know full well the undercurrent of celebrity obsession that is out there and I'm just spitting into the wind here, I've still been slackjawed at the amazing array of magazine covers devoted to Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Anniston, Angelina Jolie, etc., etc. I feel like I'm sleepwalking through an archly sarcastic sci-fi movie.
