Welcome Home, Jill Carroll

You just got released from 82 days of captivity after being kidnapped in Baghdad. Why do you hate America?

The Right Wing Noise Machine is once again loading up the swift boats with innuendo and character assassination. First came this reaction from the National Review's John Podhoretz (hat tip to ThinkProgress:
...after watching someone who was a hostage for three months say on television she was well-treated because she wasn’t beaten or killed — while being dressed in the garb of a modest Muslim woman rather than the non-Muslim woman she actually is — I expect there will be some Stockholm Syndrome talk in the coming days.

But it gets worse. Here are the jokers over at Little Green Footballs:
"She says the terrorists treated her well. Her interpreter, murdered during the kidnapping, was not available for comment."

And then there's this exchange on the Don Imus radio show between Imus and his executive producer, Bernard McGuirk (ThinkProgress has the full transcript and video of the broadcast):
MCGUIRK: She strikes me as the kind of woman who would wear one of those suicide vests. You know, walk into the — try and sneak into the Green Zone.

[...]

MCGUIRK: She may be carrying Habib’s baby at this point.

[...]

MCGUIRK: She’s like the Taliban Johnny or something.

LiberalCatNip has even more.

What is the deal with these people?

Lest We Forget:
Allan Enwiya

I heard on the TV the other night Jill Carroll insisting that her captors treated her well, really well. Let us not forget that others who were with her that day she was captured were not treated so well. As Michelle Malikin states JILL CARROLL was FREED but Allan Enwiya wasn't, was he? He got gunned down.
