Just in Case You Missed It
From the Drudge Report this evening:
Hmmm...
More American deaths and casualties in Iraq as bring the nation to democracy (oooops, make that theocracy--and let's not forget Iraqi police and guardsmen and civilians)... the loss of New Orleans... the defeat of intelligent design (well, at least in one battle, but perhaps not the war)... the defeat of oil drilling in ANWR (for now - I'm sure Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens will bring it back somehow)... the trampling of the US Constitution by our President... Karen Hughes getting yelled at by Muslim women on her tour bringing good news of the US to the Middle East (always good entertainment, but a bellweather of how far we have to go to regain "hearts and minds")... Terry Schiavo... Justice Sunday 1... Justice Sunday 2... Chief Justice John Roberts... Harriet Miers... ScAlito... Tom Delay and Jack Abramoff (a win for Democrats, a taint on democracy)... US embarrassment at the Montreal talks to continue the Kyoto Protocol... the Downing Street Memos... [with too many to relate, please feel free to remind me of other bits of 2005 US history in the comments]
From my perspective, a very mixed bag indeed. I worry about our nation, my community. We need adults to lead this country, not petulant children who'll do nothing but scream you down if you have a dissenting opinion.
Let's all do what we can to chip in and make 2006 a better year all around. Happy Holidays everyone (that's Festivus on the 23rd, Christmas and Hanukkah on the 25th, and Kwanzaa on the 26th).
