Department of Corrections

Aloha! I've been informed by my Mom that my reference to her as the "Reverend Canon Dr. Ann McElligott" is actually a bit of a demotion (I guess I'm still used to her titleage from when she was the principle of a very lovely seminary in Morpeth, NSW, right in the heart of Australia's Hunter Valley wine country). As Dean of Saint Andrews Cathedral in Honolulu, she should be addressed as the Very Reverend Dr. Ann McElligott. But she'll always be the Reverend Mother to me.

Anyhoo, if you're on Oahu on either September 16 or 17, the Cathedral will be holding a New Orleans-themed benefit dinner on both evenings

Historic St. Andrew’s Cathedral is sponsoring “A Night in Old New Orleans: A "Food and Jazz Fest” to benefit the victims of Hurricane Katrina. It will be held Friday, September 16, and Saturday, September 17, at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $25.00 per person and includes great music and authentic New Orleans food.

Food, musicians, and all needs are being donated.Volunteers are also needed to help prepare and serve food, assist with logistics, and sell tickets. Tickets are also available at the Cathedral all this week, including before and after the Prayer Service on Wednesday. For more information, or to help, please call the Rev. Honey Becker at 753-6578 or 524-2822.

Head on over, and tell 'em The Kid sent you.
