BurnedTake that last posting about the Rove-a-Palooza leak with a grain of salt. I should have known, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Here's some
debunking | Continuing with the theme of dishonest journalists writing about the Valerie Plame Wilson leak scandal, I note with some minor distress a comment on my post Sunday praising an article by Roger Morris that places Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at the heart of the Plamemania mischief.
This younger generation, I tell you -- have they no sense of history? Has it been so long since the late 1990s that people have forgotten who Roger Morris is?
I mean, I've long considered Condi Rice to be a dishonest, incompetent partisan hack, just like any other sensible American. But Roger Morris took a triple-somersault dive into the mire during the Clinton-hating frenzy with a book called Partners in Power, and there's no reason to think he's regained either his scruples or his marbles since then. [...] I'd just as soon that the progressive blogiverse not join the ranks of the credulous fools who believed Roger Morris. Particularly when the Morris article about Rice and Valerie Wilson contains several assertions that have are either provably false or have never been made elsewhere, including the following:
-- In late February 2002, "in late February, with the concurrence of CIA Director George Tenet as well as Rice and Powell, Wilson flies to Niger." Neither Wilson nor anyone else has suggested that his trip was approved at such high levels.
-- In March 2002, "Wilson returns from Niger and gives CIA officers, as they request, an oral report which is the basis for a CIA-written memo on his trip then forwarded to Rice and Powell..." Again, Morris seems to be tacking Rice and Powell's name onto previously reported facts without any evidence. |

And there's more. Bummer. Well, that's the price you pay when you play at the speed of the blogosphere. Here's a little reminder from Star Wars:
Luke: I'm sorry.
Human: I don't like you either. You just watch yourself. We're wanted men. I have the death sentence on twelve systems.
Luke: I'll be careful.
Human: You'll be dead!
