Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word--Part 2
Seems that "apology" about the prisoner abuse scandal President Bush made to King Abdullah II of Jordan wasn't that genuine. In an interview with Christianity Today, Bush backtracks:
Taking a firm line on the Abu Ghraib prisoner abuse scandal, Bush said that while he was sorry for those who had been humiliated, and has said so publicly, "I never apologized to the Arab world."
Would that be called a flip flop?
Well, probably not. Here's what he said:
"I told him I was sorry for the humiliation suffered by Iraqi prisoners and the humiliation suffered by their families," Bush said.
Interestingly, this is the article's headline/subhead:
Bush Calls for 'Culture Change':
In interview, President says new era of responsibility should replace 'feel-good.'
It certainly would be nice to have a cultural shift within this administration and have someone, anyone take responsibility for actions (rather than fade into the sunset under the pretense of spending more time with the family).
