A View from Iraq

The Guardian posted this hybrid short film/photo slide show of what it's like for US forces on the ground in Iraq and what relations are like between them and their Iraqi counterparts. It's about 8 minutes in length, but it's very well worth your time.

Things have got so bad in Houidja (sp?), the Americans are raiding the offices of the Iraqi army -- their allies, the people they're training, in President Bush's phrase, "to stand up so they can stand down." A hand grenade's been thrown from one of the armored trucks inside the secure zone, inside the joint command center (where Iraqi forces are stationed). The insurgents -- the terrorists -- appear to be the soldiers of the new Iraqi army. [...] If this is what victory looks like, it's hollow indeed.
