Apple Announcements

I've spent my morning following the latest product announcements from Apple for some posting to one of my other blogging gigs over at Amazon. As expected by many (and leaked to sources like the WaPo, which also notes a very interesting statistic -- one in five Americans has owned an iPod), Apple unveiled its new movie download capability (less than a week after Amazon did the same). It currently is only offering 75 films, and all from Disney-related studios (where Steve Jobs now also hangs his hat, thanks to its merger with Pixar). It also refreshed its iPod lineup with new models featuring more memory, but not a higher price.

Apple's Steve Jobs also gave a sneak preview for a product code-named iTV, which will be coming out in the first quarter of 2007. It's a TV set-top box that will enable you to wirelessly stream content from one room to another and play video and TV at high-definition via the component video and HDMI outputs. Here's a shot from the media event taken by the Gizmodo blog.
