A Faith-Based Initiative

Doing our part in North Carolina

I’ll try to pick up some of the slack, as the Blogger-in-Chief continues to be enmeshed in the various extended families. As children of divorce, they have more than most. My honey and I were part of their "family time" in Seattle earlier this week. Sharing the stage with Agen’s mother and step-father, we thoroughly enjoyed being with them once again.

I would like to report on an emerging grass roots movement in my home state of North Carolina. On August 5, those of us who attended the DC anti-poverty conference will meet in Greensboro to continue our efforts to publicize poverty and pressure our representatives to act on poverty-related issues. I hope we can keep the ball rolling. Although our group is faith-based and not partisan, I don’t believe I met a Republican delegate in DC. Since we will be self-supporting, we can get involved in the political process and plan to help support candidates who share our values. (Also to defeat any who voted against the minimum wage increase)

If anyone has any experience or insights that would aid us, please share them. This election is momentous!
