Scandals Galore

Reason for "Outrage Fatigue"

I continue to be amazed at how much corruption continues to come to light. Here are some links to those found on major news websites today (by the way I tried not to cite the same scandal more than once):

[UPDATE from Agen] You really have to make it a full-time job to keep up with these people. And as Mrs. F just noted, you only really had three "scandals" during the Clinton administration: Monica, Whitewater, and Travelgate (the latter two of which were just puffed up puffballs of scandalous fluff). Here are two more, courtesy of ThinkProgress' daily ThinkFast news compendium:

Government officials said that investigators “are examining the activities of several members of the House Appropriations Committee, including Representative Jerry Lewis, the California Republican and chairman of the panel that wields influence over government spending.”

“Today, if the Defense Department were a private business it would be involved in a major scandal.” A new report by Business Leaders for Sensible Priorities finds that the “Defense Department’s accounting practices are in such disarray” that defense officials can’t track the military’s equipment or how they spend defense dollars every year.

[UPDATE2 from Agen] Here's some breaking news on that Career CIA Figure noted above:
Federal agents Friday morning raided the home of Kyle "Dusty" Foggo, who stepped down this week from the No. 3 post at the CIA amid accusations of improper ties to a defense contractor named as a co-conspirator in the bribery case of former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham.

One agent told reporters that Foggo was not at the modest home in a quiet suburban neighborhood near the CIA's Langley headquarters and had not been detained. The agents refused to answer other questions about the raid, including what agencies were involved.
And Josh Marshall says that CNN is reporting that his CIA office was also raided.

As I said, it's a full-time job covering all the scandals of the BushCo Gang and their Republican minions (as well as a few stray Dems)--and luckily for us, TPMmuckraker is doing just that.
