Inconvenient Countdown: 4 Days

It was a very good limited release opening for An Inconvenient Truth--here are the numbers from Box Office Guru:
Setting the limited release box office on fire was the global warming documentary An Inconvenient Truth which opened in only four theaters but grossed a hefty $366,000, according to estimates. That gave the Al Gore pic a stunning average of $91,447 per location over four days. Distributed by Paramount Vantage, the new incarnation of Paramount Classics, Truth collected $282,000 over the Friday-to-Sunday portion averaging a scorching $70,585. Total since Wednesday stands at $489,000. Opening this weekend on multiple screens at a pair of theaters in both New York and Los Angeles, Truth will add about 60 more playdates on Friday and expand throughout June hoping to become the dominant doc of the summer.

And in the continued onslaught of talking heads babbling idiotic diatribes against the film, ThinkProgress notes this financial analysis from FoxNews:
This weekend on the show “Cashin’ In,” Fox News analyst Jonathan Hoenig asserted that global warming was “bogus,” and “dreamed up” by environmentalists to stop economic development:
There’s no scientific proof that global warming even exists. To be honest, it’s a bogus consensus dreamed up by Greens because they hate industry. They hate advancement. They hate technology…Greens will lead us back to the stone ages.

Funny... I never considered the Prius a vehicle of the Stone Age. Or many of the other technological advancements in energy efficiency that most Greens today get excited about (including myself). As to this whole crisis being "dreamed up by Greens," well it sounds like somebody's been reading a bit too much Michael Crichton (but he wouldn't be the only one).
