Did You Know...?
Mrs. F brought home a print-out of this web page bursting with juicy trivia, which had been posted and subsequently taken down in her workplace powder room. Now, during quiet moments, we turn to it, find something odd and amazing, and ask the other, "Did you know... that a group of frogs is called an army?" (This is good practice for returning to the trivia fold at the George and Dragon with the Real Ballard regulars.)
The BBC also has a weekly feature called 10 Things We Didn't Know This Time Last Week, and here are a few tidbits to help you get through to the end of the day.
1. Shoppers spend £46m a year on "distraction buys" - items bought to mask embarrassing purchases, such as condoms and treatments for piles, in the same shopping basket. [ed note - "piles" seems to be English for haemorrhoids]8. Half of all cars sold in the United States are four-wheel drives.
9. Bill Gates is so rich the US tax department has a special computer devoted solely to his finances.
