Prepping for Your SOTU Tailgate Party
(That would be the State of the Union)
Facade Friend Velvet Bulldog just asked if I was going to be watching President Chimpy (sorry... that's no way to refer to the leader of our nation... I meant King George) give the State of the Union address, and of course I'm going to put myself through the torturous abuse of rhetoric and endless fawning applause. I'll also provide pointers to some of the best analysis during and after the address, so please check back later. For your pre-game SOTU tail-gating parties, might I suggest listening to this piece from today's Day to Day show on NPR (available in Real Audio) in which Alex Chadwick and Ken Rudin talk about past SOTUs and whether they remain memorable today (short answer: most do not, but there are a couple of corkers from FDR and Clinton).
