A Low Down Dirty Shame

Interesting note about Jean Schmidt's oscar-nominated performance as the Wicked Witch of the West from Friday's MurthaMonsterMash in the House of Representatives via The Plank blog (at The New Republic):
Max Blumenthal over at HuffPo has the scoop on Danny Bupb, the Marine colonel Ohio Congresswoman Jean Schmidt enlisted last week to brand Jack Murtha a coward. Surprise, surprise, it turns out this isn't the first time Bupb has done this sort of dirty work for Schmidt:

At a Schmidt rally falsely billed as an event to honor war veterans, Bubp appeared in full Marine battle dress uniform to attack [Schmidt's Democratic opponent Paul] Hackett for criticizing his "Commander in Chief." "I served for eight years under a president who loathed the military," Bubp said, referring to Clinton. "But we never said a word about it."
And if you haven't seen Mean Jean's performance yet, here it is in Windows Media (via Daily Dissent) and QuickTime (via ThinkProgress). SNL also had a good bit with Jean via its Weekend Update section (the second half of this video from Crooks and Liars).

[UPDATE - 7am, 22 Nov] Think Progress has this new intriguing bit about Danny Bupb's "supposed" quote:

Bubp denies he said that:

Danny Bubp, a freshman state representative who is a colonel in the Marine Corps Reserve, told The Enquirer that he never mentioned Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., by name when talking with Schmidt…”There was no discussion of him personally being a coward or about any person being a coward,” Bubp said.

Schmidt needs to come clean.
