Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow
Just watched Clinton's speech on Tivo this morning, and it was great. Unfortunately, it started a bit late in the Democrat's prime time slot (10pm Eastern), which is all they get this year from the Big 3 networks, so it seemed bit rushed toward the end. But it was chock full of the great Clinton oratory tradition, with dashes of humor (directed both at the other side as well as himself), smart rhetorical devices (turning around his receipt of the Republican tax cut for the wealthy to a continued dig at the Republicans for overly protecting that piece of their charter over more homeland security), and Southern Baptist style preaching. The best moment came with this line (noted in William Saletan's convention blog on Slate):

"Strength and wisdom are not opposing values," says Clinton softly, and to my amazement, the convention hall erupts. People are standing and clapping. I thought the dig was too subtle—and the lesson too profound—to come across. But in this building, everyone gets it. We'll find out three months from now whether the folks at home agree.

Amen, brother
